| In automation technology it is becoming clear that classical Ethernet with the TCP/IP protocol
is pushing increasingly into the Field region.
This trend is further strengthened by the requirement for a continuous communication from the office world
through to the individual data points in the industrial plant. Remote maintenance via the Internet are the
buzz words here.
It is at this point that our PKV 40 / 50 comes to the fore. It links the Internet/Ethernet world with that
of the raw industrial environment of established Fieldbus technology. It consists of a Master switching
that exchanges data via one of the standard Fieldbus systems between the connected I/O devices and the
internal process data memory. Via TCP/IP, this data can be accessed for writing and reading telegrams.
At present there is no Standard for the depiction of the process data at the application say TCP/IP level.
Because of this we use the Microsoft® Windows® CE operating system for the PKV 40 / 50 to be flexibly for
extension of functions in form of tasks. The development system is economical to create and many engineers
are familiar with the system. Thus, we make all the interfaces available so that the experienced user can
also bring his own applications on to the Gateway for execution.
A highlight of the PKV 40 / 50 is the integrated Web Server. HTML pages can be created on a corresponding
editor and these can be loaded onto the Gateway. By means of Java Applets, process data can be included.
All that is still required is a Web Browser such as Microsoft® Internet Explorer or Netscape® in order to
obtain access to the data of the PKV 40 / 50 respectively via the Internet.
A special of the PKV 50 is the remanent memory for recording data of the SoftSPS.
The configuration of the Gateway is carried out by our SyCon® System Configurator that is connected locally
at the RS232 diagnostic interface or remote via TCP/IP.
The Fieldbus Gateway PKV 40 is now offered for the most important Fieldbus systems whereby the Open Modbus
on TCP protocol of the company Schneider Electric the PKV 40 is used as the Application layer. As soon as
further standards are created we will support those as well.
Customer-specific solutions can be implemented by us or also by the user.
