In automation, Ethernet is required to transmit large quantities of data with a high data rate over all levels of the communication pyramid at the low cost of office components. The truth is that different systems of data minimizing, minimal jitter and line topologies require additional hardware and only partly, or to a limited extent, permit the use of standard components. The often-demanded ten year supply guarantee means the use of special PC boards for automation.
