PARALLEL MODEM

PM-1

Parallel modem
PARALLEL MODEM
The PM-1 parallel modem from Hedin Tex converts the parallel interface to a M-1 modem interface. Thus the interface is enabled to be extended by a private 4-wire connection (2 pairs) up to 15 km, depending on speed, and by means of the PM-1 to be converted to a parallel interface or a M-1 short-distance modem to a serial V.24/RS232 interface. The parallel interface on the PM-1 may be configured as an input or output, and uses ACKNLG and BUSY as handshake signals. This interface status is in each case transmitted directly to the M-1 modem interface to avoid data loss. The parallel connection is a 25-pin DSUB socket. Data are transferred from the M-1 modem interface by a tristate current loop which provides reliable connection even when lines are poor and the surrounding area is full of interference. Both devices are galvanically insulated from each other by optocoupler interfaces. The transient protection in the modems provides good protection against lightning and overvoltages, and the galvanic insulation provides protection where there are differences in potential. The handshake signals of the parallel interface are transmitted between the devices by a software handshake, on the basis of Xon/Xoff, or by a hardware handshake (modem status) between the modems. If one of the devices is an M-1 short-distance modem, any V.24/RS232 interface can assume the status of parallel interface. In the operating modes 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200 and 57600 bits/s, the modem interface can be operated with 7 or 8 bits and no, even or odd parity. The PM-1 parallel modem meets the most stringent requirements in terms of reliability, operation and performance, and because of its simple handling the device can be installed without problem. The PM-1 is integrated in a small, compact table-mounted casing with its own power supply for 230 V AC operating voltage. The signal status is displayed by means of LEDís (Power, TD, RD and DCD) on the front panel. The Hedin Tex product PM-1 has a short delivery. Your contact partner will be pleased to provide you with information and answer any questions you may have.
