SHORT HAUL MODEMS

Short Haul Modems
|
|
| The synchronous M-3X and M-3XLWL short-haul
modems from Hedin Tex guarantee interferencefree
data transfer via the X.21/V.11 interface and
reliable extension of the internal data line.
The M-3X short-haul modem extends the X.21/V.11
interface via a 4-wire connection (2 pairs) by up to 6
km, depending on speed. The datas are transferred
by a modem interface, the terminal points are
galvanically insulated from each other. The type of
modulation enables an additional signal to be transmitted
so that the status of the line and terminal
devices is monitored. For example, the switching
status of the interface signal C (control) can be
transmitted to the other side and there it is output
as an indicate signal. The modem supports speeds of
up to 128 kbits/s, the clock being obtained
externally, internally or from the receiving clock.
The modem interface is multi-point compatible,
thereby enabling several synchronous parties to a 4-
wire connection to be operated.
The M-3XLWL, which operates in the same way as
the M-3X, extends the X.21/V.11 interface via an
interference insensitive fibre optic connection (two
fibres) by up to 2.5 km. The M-3XLWL is available
with SMA or ST* plugs, and operates with 62.5/
125µm, 50/125µm, 100/140µm and 200µm (PCS)
fibre optic cable. The output power of the FO
transmitter is adjustable in 2 stages to avoid overloading
the receiver at short transfer distances.
M-3X/M-3XLWL are table-mounted models with
integrated power supply for 230V AC. The signal status
is displayed by means of LEDís (Power, data and
interface status) on the front panel. The shortdistance
modems M-3X and M-3XLWL are codetransparent,
which means that they are completely
independent of the data structure and protocols.
The transient protection in the M-3X and M-3XLWL
provides good protection against lightning and
overvoltages. This protects not only the shortdistance
modem but above all the connected and
more expensive terminal devices. The M-3X and
M-3XLWL meet the most stringent requirements
regarding reliability, operation and performance,
and because of their simple handling the devices
can be installed without problem.
