LINE SPLITTER
LINE SPLITTER

LH-4VLWL

Line Splitter
The asynchronous LH-4VLWL line splitter divides a multi-mode fibre optic connection into a RS485/ RS422/ V.24 interface and a further fibre optic interface. For example, the line splitter enables several RS485/ RS422 networks some distance apart to be combined by a 2-.bre .bre-optic interface to form a common station, or it enables several addressed input devices, distributed in different buildings, to be connected to a common network. The direction of data .ow supports any master/ slave networks and Multimaster networks (tokenpassing). The information contents and protocols are not affected by the short device running times. At the RS232/ V.24 interface the line splitter supports speeds of up to 100 kbits/s, and for the RS422/RS485 interface speeds of up to 1 Mbits/s. After each line splitter the data are reproduced in regenerated form. The distance between two LH-4VLWL’s may be up to 3 km, the data connection being galvanically insulated by the .bre optics and being insensitive to electromagnetic interferences such as overvoltages and lightning. The RS485/RS422/V.24 interface is protected by a transient protection against interferences. The LH-4VLWL is suitable for assembly on a 35 mm DIN mounting rail, and the converter is mounted on the bar by means of an assembly base. This base consists of a retaining device for the rail and a screw terminal strip for the RS485/RS422/V.24 interface connection. The interface converter is placed directly on the assembly base, contact with the connections being made automatically. This assembly base guarantees simple installation or replacement of devices. The line splitter is operated with a supply voltage of 24V DC, and the signal status is displayed by means of LED’s (Power, TD, RD and DCD) on the front panel. The LH-4VLWL meets the most stringent requirements regarding reliability, operation and performance, and because of their simple handling the devices can be installed without problem.

Range of fibre optic interface
Range of fibre optic interface
Range of RS422/RS485 interface
Maximum transfer distance: 0-1 200 m at 0-1 MBit/s. Use pair twisted, unscreened cables. The transfer characteristics deteriorate as the capacitance increases and the cable cross-section is reduced. Use screened cables in heavy interference environment but consider that higher capacitances reduce the transmission distance.
Range of RS232/V.24 interface
Maximum transfer distance: 15 m

Other fibre optic modems
