| The repeater extends an RS422/RS485 connection
by a further 1200 m or carries out a 4-/2-wire conversion.
In the case of a 2-wire/2-wire or 4-/2-wire
conversion at any interface the LH-2 detects whether
data are present and switches the transmission direction
of the repeater accordingly. At the same time
the transmitter on the opposite site is switched off,
which means that no additional control lines are
required for reversing direction. In a 4-wire system
the repeater transmits the data regardless of the
direction of transmission. This mode of operation
guarantees short transfer time and protocol independence,
and no speed settings are necessary.
Transfer characteristics such as range are improved
by the use of the LH-2 repeater, and the sub-sections
of a connection are galvanically insulated. A resistance
can be installed at each interface connection
to terminate the end of a sub-section (termination).
The LH-2 repeater is suitable for assembly on a 35
mm DIN mounting rail, and the converter is installed
on the DIN bar by means of an assembly base. This
base consists of a retaining device for the rail and a
screw terminal strip for the interface connections.
The interface converter is placed directly on the
assembly base, contact with the connections being
made automatically. This assembly base guarantees
simple installation and replacement of devices.
The LH-2 is operated with a supply voltage of 24
V DC, and the signal status is displayed by means of
LED’s (Power, RD, TD and DCD) on the front panel.
The transient protection provides good protection
against lightning and overvoltages. The LH-2 meets
the most stringent requirements regarding reliability,
operation and performance, and the device cabe installed
without problem because of its simple handling.
