The New SeaLINK+232I USB Isolated serial I/O adapter provides a single USB to RS-232 serial port allowing USB connectivity to legacy and non-USB compliant devices. Now your non-USB peripherals can have the same connection simplicity and ease of use as USB peripherals. The adapter provides isolation to help prevent damage caused by ground loops and surges. Power for the SeaLINK+232I adapter is obtained directly from the USB cable, eliminating the need for wall power.
Windows 98/ME/2000 support is included along with software utilities that make data rate selection easy. Simply select your data rate and our software transparently handles the software divisor calculations. This makes high data rates and Windows configuration simpler than ever. We include our Windows 98/ME/2000/XP and Linux drivers to simplify installation.
Ground Loop Phenomenon:
Ground loop phenomenon occurs when two (or more) pieces of equipment are connected together with a common ground and a different ground potential exists at each location. This current can cause the connected equipment to experience noise that in turn causes data transmission errors. In extreme cases this ground current can cause equipment malfunction or even destruction. An isolated serial solution can help prevent this occurance, thus expensive equipment is saved by an inexpensive Sealevel isolated solution.
