The Hostess range of multiport serial controllers includes both intelligent and non-intelligent
synchronous and asynchronous products designed to meet your needs. Widely used by many
major OEMs and System Integrators, they are simple to install and easy to use.
Hostess and Hostess 550
These were the first multiport controllers for the PC and are still in use today in a wide range of
systems. They provide a low cost asynchronous solution using non-intelligent controllers.

Hostess i
The Hostess i range of intelligent controllers enables you to download code to the controller
to reduce the load on the computer's CPU. Available soon in PCI format.

- 128k dual ported RAM expandable to 8 Mb
- All models include two full duplex synchronous ports
- 8 and 16 port models

Hostess i/S2
This synchronous two port intelligent controller has the same powerful features as the
Hostess i series and is ideal for off loading system overhead by running synchronous
protocols on the controller.

Hostess SV24+
For low cost synchronous communications the Hostess SV24+ is an economical 2
port non-intelligent controller that can operate at speeds of up to 1.28 Mpbs
and supports both full and half duplex data transfer modes.
Features include
- Single synchronous V.11, X21 network connection or two V.24 synchronous connections

SynchLink software provides drivers for Windows NT and Windows 95 and an
API for low level control of the SV24+ communications

Smart Hostess
The Smart Hostess can provide 4 or 8 ports that can operate either synchronously or
asynchronously giving considerable flexibility. Programs can be downloaded to the board to
reduce CPU load.
Features include
- Synchronous speeds of up to 1.1 Mbps using DMA.
- Asynchronous speeds up to 76.8 Kbps
- 8 MHz processor with 256K dual ported RAM and 256K local RAM to accommodate the down loadable programs.
- Field upgrade from 4 to 8 ports
