The Intellicon-Flex8 is an intelligent multi-port serial adapter that allows multiple
serial devices with different electrical interfaces to be connected to an IBM PC
compatible computer. The Intellicon-Flex8 is an ideal solution for applications requiring

Intellicon-Flex8 boards provide data transfer rates up to 38.4K baud. Each port has
independent baud rate selection.
Intelligent Communications Processor
The Intellicon-Flex8's on board processor and dual-ported RAM off-loads the burden of
managing communications from the main CPU. The user can software select options such as
Edit, Echo, I/O Flow Control and Character Translation to be processed on the
Intellicon-Flex8. The result is efficient I/O communications and better processing
performance for the host system.
Enhanced Features

Transparent print under Unix allows the concurrent operation of printers attached to
terminals, while the terminal is in use. One port for both printer and terminal offers
user a more cost effective print solution for their application.

Adjustable FIFO buffer thresholds and timeouts allow you to customise the Intellicon

Hardware and Software Flexibility
The Intellicon-Flex8 uses SLIM technology to
provide different electrical interfaces on the same board. As hardware requirements change
within the application, the user may field upgrade the board with the appropriate
interface module. The Intellicon-Flex8 adapters support a number of popular multi-user
operating systems. Custom software can be downloaded to the on board RAM to support
specialized protocols. Multiple Intellicon-Flex8 boards may reside in a computer to
accommodate large multi-user environments. Memory addresses, I/O port addresses and
interrupt request lines are switch and jumper selectable.
Easy to Use
Intellicon-Flex8 products come ready for simple installation. Included are software,
board, cable assembly and a comprehensive manual.
