Description:

In automation there is a marked TRend to open PC based systems. SoftPLCs, i.e. PLC logic which is processed directly on the PC and fieldbus systems for exchanging the process data are the cenTRal products of this technology.

We have recognised this TRend early and are today in the position of being able to offer the Communication Interface between PC and fieldbus system for all relevant fieldbus systems. These can be provided as PC- or PC/104-card with ISA and PCI bus connections, which has the decisive advantage of unified appLIcation interfaces for all interfaces and fieldbus systems.

The two channel AS-Interface works in Master operation and provides an image of the process data in the dual-port memory. Here the output data of the appLIcation is stored and passed on independently to the Slave participants by the Communication Interface. Parallel to the output, the input data are read in and made available to the user in the process image. The appLIcation is neither loaded, nor are real time characteristics required, it can access the data at any time.

AS-i commands, e.g. for seting the slave address or saving the configuration, are TRansferred to the interface via a Mailbox and confirmed by it after execution.

The configuration of the AS-i network is carried out with the aid of our System Configurator SyConR under Windows 9x or Windows NT. In auto-configuration mode the devices at the network will be deteced automatically. For offLIne configuration the device data is reTRieved from EDS-files (elecTRonic data sheet). Subsequently, the configuration is TRansferred via the dual-port memory or the serial diagnostic interface to the CIF and stored in a FLASH-EPROM.

Status and diagnostic data are available in the dual-port memory for start-up and monitoring of the AS-i network.
