serial adapters for PCI Bus compatible computers. Blue Heat/PCI

Applications:
The Blue Heat/PCI Opto adapter offers two or four asynchronous RS-232/RS-485
serial ports with optical isolation for data collection devices,
barcode readers, time clocks, scales and other industrial equipment. The
Blue Heat/PCI Opto adapter provides an industrial strength solution for
control and automation applications requiring single node or multi-drop
communications over short or long distances, and electrical isolation
using PCI bus compatible computers.

or 2, and odd, even, or stick parity.

The following signals are offered RX, TX, CTS, RTS on
both RS485 and RS232.

Each serial port on the Blue Heat/PCI Opto is Optically Isolated to 1kV p-p, from port
to port and all ports to the PC Chassis. This provides robust and reliable
communications for the most demanding environments such are marine,
industrial, aviation and rail yards. The unique Blue Heat/PCI Opto design
features individual port-port isolation, this guarantees that your system
is isolated from the remote devices connected to your system, and in turn
your remote devices are isolated from each other.
High Speed, High Performance Communications
Rapid data transfer rates up to 921.6 Kbps on all ports and a fully featured RS485 interface make Blue
Heat/PCI Opto boards ideal connections to bar code readers, weigh
scales POS equipment, high speed modems, ISDN terminal adapters and
more. State of the art quad UART's with 128 bytes of transmit and receive
FIFO buffers offload interrupt handling and buffering from the main CPU,
thus improving overall system performance. The PCI bus interface offers
high bus bandwidth for your data communications.
Hardware Flexibility
Blue Heat/PCI Opto offers hardware flexibility and adaptability for your application.
You can configure each port's line standard, baud rate, parity, data and
stop bits independently. Each port can be configured for RS-232 or
RS-485, it's your choice!!. Blue Heat/PCI Opto adapters offer various
connector options to suit your needs. The Blue Heat/PCI Opto supports three RS-485 modes:
Full Duplex;Half Duplex with auto TxD echo cancellation, and Multi-drop Slave. Custom baud rates,
cabling and other options are also available.
Superior RS-485 Interface
The Blue Heat/PCI Opto has a full featured
RS-485 interface. The interface features termination and bias resistors on
the RX+/- and CTS+/- lines. It also features full support in hardware for
all three RS-485 modes Full Duplex ( 4-wire ), Multi-Drop Slave (
4-wire multi-dropped ) and 1/2 Duplex (2-wire multi-dropped). The RS-485
modes are controlled using the provided utility programs. Selection
from RS-232 to RS-485 is port by port jumper selectable.

To get you up and running in no time, the Blue Heat/PCI 485
adapters come ready for simple installation with no DIP switches or
jumpers to set. Included are board, cable assembly, driver software,
software utilities and a comprehensive manual.

All Connect Tech PCI bus serial cards are built using 4 and 6 layer
Printed Circuit Boards ( PCB's ) with power and ground planes. The use of
power and ground planes on PCB's helps to lower Radiated Emissions from
the circuitry and give better signal integrity which allows for better
performance. The Blue Heat/PCI products meet or exceed all PCI
specifications. We ensure that the ALL PCI gold fingers providing
power are adequately decoupled to the power and ground planes using
decoupling capacitors. Proper decoupling ensures that PCI bus signal
integrity is maintained and that current fluctuations on the Blue Heat/PCI
don't adversely affect other cards on the PCI bus, and vice versa. We also
ensure that the JTAG boundary scan fingers on the PCI bus are connected,
this ensures that JTAG boundary scan systems will work when needed. We
also ensure that ALL PCI bus signals do not exceed the
specified length, or meet exact length requirements where mandated.
Connect Tech manufactures all products to strict
ISO9001 standards and ensures that the products are assembled and
tested in an Electrostatic safe environment. Furthermore we package all
circuit boards in a sealed Electrostatic safe bag, to ensure no
Electrostatic damage will occur during shipping and handling. Connect Tech
fully tests each product before shipping to ensure that the product
performs to specification.

Diagnostic Tools
Blue Heat/PCI adapters include the software data line analyser for Windows95, SeePORT. SeePORT helps you to diagnose
communication problems and therefore minimize downtime. Future SeePORT support will include Windows NT and QNX4.2X.
