Applications
|
The Blue Heat/Net family of Ethernet to Serial products offers four and eight port
devices to network any serial device over an Ethernet TCP/IP network. Ideal for
modem pools, remote access, access controllers, tooling machines, alarm systems,
terminals, data collection devices, barcode readers, time clocks, scales, printers and
many other serial devices. With the Blue Heat/Net, you can network enable your
serial peripherals, allowing remote control from any work station connected to your
Ethernet LAN, or over the internet. A variety of software and hardware options are
available to address a wide range of communication needs for your applications.
The Blue Heat/Net can be configured and controlled via serial interface, or
remotely via Telnet or web-based HTTP.

Benefits
High Speed, High Performance Communications
Achieve rapid data transfer rates up to 230.4 Kbps (RS-232) and 460.8 Kbps
(RS-422/485) on all serial ports.
Hardware Flexibility
Blue Heat/Net offers hardware flexibility and adaptability for your application with
four or eight port configurations and all ports accessible on the network. For further
flexibility you can configure each port individually with 5 to 8 data bits, with or
without parity, and 1, 1.5 or 2 stop bits.
Software Compatibility
The Blue Heat/Net comes with the Virtual Serial Port (VSP) device driver for
Windows XP/2000 on Ethernet. This provides you with more software flexibility
for your communication needs. Blue Heat/Net also supports all the popular network
protocols such as IP, TCP, ICMP, UDP, ARP, RARP, TFTP, DHCP, BOOTP, HTTP and Telnet.
Software Flexibility
The Blue Heat/Net is an ideal platform for supporting your custom communication
needs. Using open source development tools you can develop specialized protocols
that can be downloaded to the on-board Flash Memory - more flexibility and
performance for your most demanding applications.
Administration
The Blue Heat/Net provides you with several methods to manage your serial ports
on the network – over a serial interface or Telnet or HTTP - more flexibility to help
you diagnose communication problems and therefore minimize downtime.
Easy to Use
Blue Heat/Net products come ready for simple installation. You receive the Blue
Heat/Net Ethernet to serial device, driver software, comprehensive instructions
and a Quick Start Guide. Configure the Blue Heat/Net easily over a serial
interface or dynamically with Telnet and HTTP (web browser). There are no
jumpers, no dipswitches, no hatches or panels to open. DB-9 models feature
software selectable RS-232/422/485 and bias/termination.
